Zambian accelerator Bongo Hive’s Idea2Prototype Day 2014 is to take place on November 21 and 22 in the country’s second city Kitwe, with participants to design and build a prototype solving a local challenge.
The event promises to take a hands-on approach to design and development, with participants to learn and improve their design thinking process through building and testing their own solutions.
“Design thinking is a process, applicable to all walks of life, of creating new and innovative ideas and solving problems,” said Bongo Hive.
“The Idea2Prototype Day will teach the design thinking process by enabling participants to tackle local innovation challenges through a structured yet creative approach.”
Hosted in partnership with the Copperbelt University, Asikana Network, and the Embassy of Sweden, the organisers said the event offers the opportunity for participants to learn new skills, build their personal network, and engage with the speakers and mentors who will be in attendance.
Some participants may be invited to take part in Startup Weekend Lusaka to be held on November 29 and 30.
Participants for Idea2Prototype Day will be selected based on their online application forms.
