International technology group Methys is offering entrepreneurs in the Western Cape province of South Africa the opportunity to pitch their projects for the chance to receive a ZAR100,000 (US$9,000) subsidy in development value for a website or mobile app.
The company said the Methys Labs Innovation Challenge was aimed at encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship in South Africa, with the prizes to be awarded to the entrepreneurs coming out with the most innovative concepts.
Methys will look at criteria such as business idea viability, disruption potential, customer adoption potential, design and scalability, with a panel of Methys employees and independent business people adjudicating the award, which will be announced at the Cap40 Awards event on December 3 at the Granger Bay Hotel School.
“Delivering innovation and disruption is core to our company DNA, as our strong track record of incubation demonstrates,” said Christophe Viarnaud, co-founder and chairman of Methys. “The Methys Labs Innovation Challenge aims at identifying entrepreneurs with potential to succeed in the digital space; coming from either an e-commerce space or transitioning from a brick and mortar environment.”
The competition is open to any individual or company based in the Western Cape, with more information available on the Silicon Cape website. Submissions are to be sent by November 20 to cchalle@methys.com.
