think accelerator underway in Rwanda

The Tigo-backed think accelerator programme has begun in Kigali, Rwanda, with three startups selected from more than 150 applicants to undergo incubation.

In September, think selected 10 startups from 6 countries as finalists for the initial intake for the accelerator, saying the companies were some of the best digital innovators in Africa with potential to scale across the continent.

The companies then pitched to a final investment committee of tech investors, who whittled down the list to three. The startups that will form the first think cohort are Egyptian road assistance mobile app Beliaa, Nigerian real estate matching site Cribpark, and Rwandan channel management software TorQue.

“think exists to build the next pan-African generation of successful entrepreneurs with sustainable and scalable digital businesses,” said Tongai Maramba, chief executive officer (CEO) of Tigo Rwanda.

“Our investment in these business takes several forms including financial support, expertise and access to our extensive network of partners. So that companies graduating from think will not only grow their core business but will be prepared to be leaders of the continent’s digital revolution.”
