BongoHive in high-level partnership for business plan competition

Zambian incubator BongoHive has partnered the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI), Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) and Chamber for Small and Medium Business Associations (ZCSMBA) in supporting a new business plan competition to promote entrepreneurship.

BongoHive and the three other organisations are putting their weight behind Nyamuka Zambia, which is tasked with finding a new generation of entrepreneurs and allowing them to grow their enterprises.

The competition is part of the five-year Private Enterprise Programme – Zambia (PEP-Z) and funded by the United Kingdom (UK) government’s Department for International Development (DFID).

“The Private Enterprise Programme and its Nyamuka Zambia Business Plan Competition is all about teamwork and partnerships, so the support of these key organisations is vital to helping get our message across to as many entrepreneurs as possible and enthusing them with a sense of what it means to be in business,” said Bayo Akindeinde, programme manager at PEP-Z.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) sees the three organisations pledge to support the competition with a range of practical initiatives, such as providing office space for workshops in Lusaka, Ndola and Kitwe, promoting the competition and encouraging their members to apply.

“Through this partnership, the parties will share and disseminate relevant information about the Nyamuka Zambia business plan competition to their membership and networks. They will also collaborate on various events that are relevant and mutually beneficial to them,” the partners said.

Nyamuka Zambia manager Shalin Jethi welcomed the agreement and acknowledged the contribution of the partners to the competition.

“We sincerely appreciate you coming on board to help us bring our plans for Nyamuka Zambia to fruition. We trust your partnering with us will go a long way in establishing Nyamuka as a dynamic long term platform for Zambia’s budding entrepreneurs,” said Jethi.
