Cameroonian startup incubator ActivSpaces and the Cameroon Angels Network (CAN) have announced the winners of their co-hosted Pitch Day 237, held on Saturday January 31.

Disrupt Africa reported in January ActivSpaces partnered CAN to host Pitch Day 237, the winners of which will go on to participate in the #YouCAN competition – with the chance of winning XAF500,000 US$900 prize money – or ActivSpaces’ new acceleration programme Activation Bootcamp – a six month accelerator offering startups funding, mentorship and support valued at XAF4.6 million (US$8,500).

While a traditional application process was adhered to for the majority of places for the Activation Bootcamp; a few places remained available for the winners of Pitch Day 237; with ActivSpaces selecting 10 startups to compete for the remaining places.

Pitch Day 237 took place on Saturday, January 31, with each participating startup given five minutes to pitch their idea, followed by five minutes of question time.

The three startups winning places in the #YouCAN competition were named as CarDispo – a mobile and online platform connecting taxi drivers and customers;  social television platform Djoss.tv; and the “African Disney”, New Era Publishers.

The four startups winning places on the Activation Bootcamp were kwiizi – an online platform aimed at connecting universities and facilitating information and data sharing;  WiFi entertainment platform for the transport industry IMX; as well as dual-winners New Era Publishers and Djoss.tv.
