Nigerian online supermarket Supermart.ng has announced a new delivery option called Supermart Prime, allowing customers to pay a one-off fee of NGN1,500 (US$7.50) and receive unlimited grocery deliveries free for 30 days with no minimum basket size.
Supermart.ng, which was founded by former Jumia managing director (MD) and chief operating officer (COO) Raphael Afaedor and Gbolahan Fagbure, allows customers to shop for groceries from leading supermarkets, such as Park ‘n’ Shop – SPAR, MedPlus, Office Everything, Mega Plaza, 9 – 7 and Chi-Shoppe, and delivers to all areas of Lagos.
Customers can access the new Prime service by selecting the option while checking out on the website, paying NGN1,500 rather than the usual NGN800 (US$4). On subsequent visits over the next month, the customer will not be charged at all for deliveries, irrespective of basket size.
“With Supermart, we set out to make grocery shopping convenient for busy urban professionals and home-makers. With the new Supermart Prime delivery option, frequent customers can now shop away even more conveniently by paying only NGN1,500 once for unlimited deliveries for 30 days,” said Afaedor.
Fagbure said Supermary knew that customers typically go to multiple supermarkets to complete their grocery shopping, which led to the development of the Supermart service to save them time.
“For the first time in Nigeria, customers are able to select a three-hour window in which they want their order delivered to them any day of the week, including Saturdays and Sundays. With over 50,000 products on the website, Supermart.ng is the largest online grocery retailer in Nigeria. Now with Supermart Prime, grocery shopping is now even more affordable,” he said.
