Entrepreneurs breakfast club launches in Nairobi next week

Kahawa Culture is launching a breakfast club in Nairobi, Kenya, next week, with the aim of bringing together young entrepreneurs to engage in informal networking and share ideas.

Kahawa Culture, which has already held three successful monthly meetups, is launching the breakfast club as a means of serving the community of “young coffee-loving entrepreneurs” in Nairobi, with the first event taking place next Wednesday, March 25, at the Nairobi Garage on Ngong Road from 7am.

Around 50 people are expected in attendance, with the launch to feature a short talk by Amadou Chico Cissoko, founder of Making Africa a Continent of Innovators (MACI) and director of the Dare to Innovate movement. Breakfast will be served and there will be speed networking opportunities.

Founder Michelle Ayuma told Disrupt Africa Kahawa Culture aimed to creatively use coffee culture to promote patriotism, positive change and meaningful conversations amongst young people living in Nairobi.

“From our recent engagements with young Nairobi entrepreneurs, we found out that many of them usually have some free time between 6am and 8am before their employees report to work. They desire to fill that gap with interesting activities seeing as evening events are no longer favourable considering the current traffic situation in Nairobi,” she said.

“We chose to start a breakfast club to address that gap in the day with fun informal networking which from our research has proved to be more resourceful.”

She said at Kahawa Culture networking events “everyone is a superstar”.

“We try to promote the idea of seeking valuable intelligence to from peers – even those who are just starting out in business,” Ayuma said.

“We hope to grow our community into diverse chapters around Nairobi. For now, we just dare to start.”
