Microsoft 4Afrika has launched its CloudPreneur initiative in Nigeria, looking to empower 1,000 early-stage startups in becoming cloud resellers.
Applications are now open online for registration on the platform, which has been launched in partnership with Fate Foundation and Mara Mentor.
“The CloudPreneurs initiative will identify and develop startups. It will also empower youths that are creative and passionate about technology. It will help to reduce unemployment among Nigerian youths,” said Wemimo Adeniyi, director – Small, Midmarket Solutions and Partners, at Microsoft Nigeria.
FateFoundation director Habiba Balogun said the initiative would alleviate poverty and create wealth, with participants receiving training in aspects such as marketing and skills development.
Hetal Shah, director of operations at Mara Mentor, said the organisation was proud to bring its expertise in entrepreneurship support and mentorship to the CloudPreneurs project.
“As an initiative focused on enabling, empowering and inspiring entrepreneurs, we believe this is an opportunity for young Nigerians in technology to get the training, support, and mentorship needed to build or grow cloud-based businesses,” Shah said.
“It is pertinent that young people embrace the culture entrepreneurship in line with global trends, and with increasing wave of cloud computing, Mara Mentor is happy to partner with Microsoft to empower cloud-based entrepreneurs and their ideas.”
