The African Innovation Foundation (AIF) has announced the seven finalists of its African digital art competition the #AfrinnovChallenge, which is offering digital artists the chance to attend the Innovation Prize for Africa award ceremony.
Disrupt Africa reported in January on the launch of the competition, which will see two winners selected to attend the award ceremony, network with innovators and leaders in their field, and work with the AIF on the foundation’s creative material.
Seven finalists have now been chosen, and public voting is ongoing to decide the overall winners. They are Catherine Mirembe and Allan Musije from Bumba Studio in Uganda, artist Fatoumata Tioye from Mali, Egyptian visual artist Mariona Lloreta, Nigerian animator Mbuotidem Johnson, Cameroonian artist Ismael Mohamadou Djida, Ethiopian architect Noh Balcha, and Zimbabwean textile designer Ntombi Kunye.
“Here’s a shout out to all our #AfrinnovChallenge applicants who took the time to participate in this competition, grabbing the opportunity to join innovators from across the continent to attending the inaugural Innovation Prize for Africa 2015 award ceremony in Morocco in May 2015,” the AIF said.
