Kenyan coding academy Moringa School has kicked off training for the second cohort of participants in the school’s intensive web-development programme.
Disrupt Africa reported in January Moringa School announced applications were open for the second round of the school’s 12-week web developer training programme, with participants to graduate as junior mobile web developers.
The second cohort has since been selected, and comprises nine men and two women – some fresh graduates from university, and others who were already working as developers, Moringa School said.
During the programme, participants learn HTML and CSS, Java for Android, Ruby on Rails, UI/UX skills and business fundamentals. The course also requires participants to complete a 2-week internship at a startup or company.
At the end of the course, Moringa School will hold a demo day to which it invites its hiring partners, to support Moringa School graduates in finding suitable career opportunities.
Meanwhile, Moringa School is also calling for applications for the third intake of the course, due to begin on June 29. Those interested in applying can do so online.
While the cost of the programme is US$2,000 per student, Moringa offers a deferment programme, whereby successful candidates can pay a portion of the fee up front according to their means, and repay the rest of the fee during or after the course.
