South African website-building startup VIGO has partnered the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship to offer five small businesses the chance to boost their online presence with a website makeover worth ZAR10,000 (US$850).
Disrupt Africa reported earlier this year on VIGO, an online website builder that enables users – even if they do not have the relevant skills – to create their own professional websites.
The startup’s target is to assist small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in prospering through a greater online presence, and to that end it has recently announced a number of partnerships, most notably with social media marketing firm InsideMan and this latest arrangement with the Branson Centre.
“This competition is meant to spread awareness about the importance of creating a strong online presence and point out the dos and don’ts of putting your brand online,” said VIGO founder Carl Wallace, adding the initiative was of particular importance to small businesses unable to afford the costly services of web developers.
“We understand this issue and have created an affordable solution that’s accessible to entrepreneurs everywhere.”
The competition invites Branson Centre entrepreneurs to post screenshots of their current web blunders onto the VIGO Facebook page and motivate how their business would benefit most from the makeover, with winners to be announced in June.
“We are excited to be a part of this initiative and look forward to seeing the transformations that will come out the campaign,” said Gavin Meiring, marketing and communications manager at the Branson Centre.
