Nigeria’s Co-Creation Hub (CcHub) has selected three new startups to join its incubation programme, with each successful candidate granted up to US$25,000 in funding.
CcHub announced startups Grit Systems, Mamalette, and Autobox will join the incubation programme, which currently supports 50 startups.
GRIT Systems develops web-enabled technology for controlling and gathering data about household and commercial electrical power consumption; Mamalette is an online platform for mothers and mothers-to-be to interact; and Autobox is a platform for car enthusiasts which also allows car owners to find and purchase genuine auto parts.
CcHub said each of the three startups will be given between US$15,000 and US$25,000.
Explaining why the three startups were chosen, Damilola Teidi, pre-incubation business analyst at CcHub told Disrupt Africa: “Each solution meets a real need and has the potential to grow. Mamalette has a growing engaging community of over 60,000 members; Autobox helps reduce car owners’ vulnerability to being ripped off by price or quality; and Grid Systems’ solution impacts on an area that affects households and companies – electrical power and energy consumption.”
“All three founders are passionate about their solutions. It was also important that the startups had gained some traction and started generating revenue as these are things we take into consideration when admitting startups into our incubation programme,” Teidi said.
In addition to the seed funding granted, the new startups will receive office space – including facilities such as high speed internet and meeting rooms -, mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs and advisers through CcHub’s mentoring programme, administrative support, and access to CcHub’s network of partners to support with product development, distribution, growth hacking and monetization.
CcHub launched its incubation programme in 2011, and has selected 50 startups to date. The first CcHub startup to “graduate” was BudgIT, which left the programme last year.
