South Africa’s Stellenbosch-based incubator LaunchLab has opened applications for its IDEAS Pitching Platform, with participating entrepreneurs standing the chance to win up to ZAR100,000 (US$7,407).
The IDEAS competition sees entrepreneurs record three minute video pitches on the basis of which a group of finalists are chosen to pitch head-to-head before a panel of judges.
This round of the biannual competition focuses on the categories of payments and big data; paid media; cleantech; agritech; edutech; and “anything exceptional”.
“[The] programme is open to all aspiring and practising entrepreneurs from student and non-student communities who have innovative business ideas that are viable and could provide solutions to business and social challenges,” LaunchLab said.
“Participants again stand a chance of winning their share of ZAR100,000, which they can use as seed funding to further develop their business ideas.”
A number of opportunities will be provided throughout September for interested entrepreneurs to attend and have their pitch video recorded. Pitch recording sessions will be hosted by Stellenbosch University, the University of the Western Cape and the University of Cape Town, as well as at False Bay College.
The finals will be held at the LaunchLab premises in Stellenbosch on October 14.
Video pitching slots can be booked online.
