A group of key players from Kenya’s impact entrepreneurship ecosystem are to travel to Amsterdam in the Netherlands during Amsterdam Capital Week this month, as part of an initiative known as the Social Impact Expedition.

Commissioned by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and organised by Crosswise Works and Professional Rebel, the Social Impact Expedition aims to connect the vibrant impact startup communities from Amsterdam and Nairobi.

The Kenyan delegates will introduce conference attendees to Kenya’s local ecosystem during an event entitled Kenya on the Rise, to be held on September 25.

During the event, the delegates will pitch their ideas and share the latest developments of Nairobi’s startups and hubs in tech, mobile and impact innovation.

“By bringing key players from the Kenyan startup impact enterprise ecosystem to the Amsterdam Capital Week we provide opportunities for impact investors to interact, network and build (new) sustainable partnerships within this Kenyan ecosystem,” expedition organisers Crosswise Works said.

A number of delegates from Kenya’s impact entrepreneurship ecosystem have already been confirmed as attending, including Johnni Kjelsgaard, founder of GrowthAfrica; Sam Gichuru, founder of Nailab; Winnie Waudo, chief executive officer (CEO) of PlugIn; and Rodgers Muhadi, founder of Paykind.

The Social Impact Expedition forms part of the week-long Amsterdam Capital Week, to be held between September 22 and 28, and which sees entrepreneurs from around the world travel to Amsterdam to meet and pitch to an audience of over 500 investors.
