The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) has announced it will host its first Africa Technology Summit (ATS) this November, with one of the three days of the event to be dedicated to connecting startups with investment opportunities.
The main ATS conference will be held on November 3 and 4, with the two day event to convene leading corporate executives, entrepreneurs, investors and media active in Africa’s tech ecosystem, to discuss their Africa-oriented strategies, and share what’s next for them on the continent.
MEST has also partnered with Angel Fair Africa for a third day of the conference, November 5, which will focus exclusively on connecting promising African startups with investment opportunities.
The conference will be organised in a series of topical sessions, presentations and panel discussions.
Topics will include the role of venture hubs play and how they can better serve and support entrepreneurs in scaling their startups for success; investors’ views on the most compelling opportunities today in Africa and how they’re focusing their time, attention, and money; and how to ensure technology talent and solutions are being leveraged to support the most vulnerable communities.
Promising industry sectors such as e-commerce, new media and fintech will also be the subjects of dedicated sessions.
Some of the guest speakers to present at ATS have already been announced, with the lineup to include Alisee de Tonnac, chief executive officer (CEO) and co-founder of Seedstars World; Chika Nwobi, founder and managing director (MD) of L5 Labs, and co-director of 440.ng; Eric Osiakwan, founder of Angel Fair Africa; Neal Hansch, MD at the MEST incubator; and Vincent Kouwenhoven, founder of eVentures Africa Fund; among others.
A number of entrepreneurs will also speak at the event, such as Etop Ikpe, co-MD of DealDey; Raphael Afaedor, co-founder and CEO of Supermart.ng; and Vahid Monadjem, co-founder and CEO of Nomanini.
