Seedstars World has opened applications for the Tanzanian leg of the global startup competition, which will see one startup selected to take part in final in Geneva for a chance to win up to US$500,000 in equity investment.
Disrupt Africa reported yesterday Illuminum Greenhouses had won the Kenyan leg of the Seedstars World competition, while African heats have already taken place in Mozambique, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast,Rwanda and Uganda.
Applications are open until October 13 for the Tanzania leg, which will take place on November 5 at Buni Hub in Dar Es Salaam. Up to 10 of the best startups in Tanzania will be invited to pitch for the opportunity to compete at the final event.
“Seedstars World is a platform connecting investors to the next generation of startup entrepreneurs, pulling the spotlight from Silicon Valley and Western Europe. We honestly think the best way to have an impact in emerging countries is by investing and promoting entrepreneurship,” said Alisée de Tonnac, Seedstars World chief executive officer (CEO).
As it did in Kenya, Seedstars World has formed a partnership with Stanbic Bank to offer additional support to entrepreneurs by offering to explore further collaboration options with the startups after the competition.
