The Ericsson AHUB, a first of its kind three-day startup-focused event at this year’s AfricaCom conference in Cape Town, will feature a Pitch and Win session where five startups will compete for prizes including free membership of mLab Southern Africa.

The AHUB, presented by Ericsson in partnership with Informa and Disrupt Africa in November, will host startups, incubators, entrepreneurs, investors, operators and developers to showcase talent, facilitate partnerships and encourage investment and innovation.

Attendees will gain insights from presentations on how to be a successful tech innovator in Africa, learn from incubator case studies, hear panel discussions focussed on funding models and how to build a business case to gain finance, and gain insight into how technology innovation is being developed, funded and nurtured in Africa.

The event will also feature a Pitch and Win session on November 18, in collaboration with mLab Southern Africa, with five shortlisted startups each given three minutes to pitch in front of a panel of judges representing investors, incubators and startup experts.

Winners will receive free membership of mLab, an invitation to the AfricaCom Awards gala dinner, an interview on the AfricaCom post-show email, a guest blog post in the Com World Series blog, and a speaking slot at future AfricaCom/AHUB events.

Applications are invited from high growth startups in the tech sector, businesses planning to expand into Africa, entrepreneurs looking to partner with Africa’s leading telecom and tech brands and innovation hubs, teams with passionate members working together and looking to attract more talent, and startups seeking investment, mentors or partners to support their growth plans.
