US-based investment platform Onevest has announced the launch of 1000 Angels, claiming to be the world’s largest international, invitation-only network for angel investors.
According to Onevest, 1000 Angels is set to reinvent the traditional venture model by providing members with the ability to create their own venture portfolios from a constantly updated selection of high quality, exclusive investment opportunities in high-growth, early-stage companies across the world.
The 1,000 angel investors to be invited to the network will be selected by filtering through Onevest’s existing pool of 30,000 investors from around the world who are registered on the Onevest network.
According to Alejandro Cremades, executive chairman at Onevest, a substantial number of the platform’s investor base is from Africa.
1000 Angels membership is open by invitation to accredited investors only.
Members receive access to private founder presentations, member networking events, educational seminars, and VIP access to conferences and events. 1000 Angels also offers members the opportunity to access advisory board and board of director roles where there is a fit.
“Unlike traditional funds, 1000 Angels allows members to build their portfolios with no management fees, carried interest, capital commitments, or unpredictable capital calls. 1000 Angels is creating a venture asset class without the costs and frictions that have historically resulted in poor performance,” Onevest says.
Cremades believes the platform is answering a gap in the global investment ecosystem.
“From my point of view, what 1000 Angels is doing is very much needed as it brings awareness and education around supporting innovation and building the future,” Cremades says.
