Global seed-stage startup competition Seedstars World has chosen the 11 startups that will pitch at its event in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, with the winner set to compete for up to US$500,000 in funding at the global final in Switzerland next year.

Seedstars World has partnered Stanbic Bank for the Tanzania event, having already hosted African heats in Mozambique, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Angola.

The latest event will be hosted by Buni Hub on November 5, with 11 startups pitching to a jury that includes Christopher Mlay, head of enterprise banking at Stanbic Bank Tanzania, and Marsha Msuya, head of legal and corporate affairs at Total Tanzania.

The 11 startups are plastic waste management solution Mbezi Recycling, maternal education platform Kuliko, agritech startup Agrinfo, online ticketing app Time Tickets, voice sharing app Guumzo, mobile streaming service Tango TV, online project management startup Lemon, online school information system Edu-Taarifa, logistics company East Africa Fruits Farm & Co, and solar services company Juabar.

Prior to the event, Seedstars World is organising a two-day bootcamp that will see mentors and speakers from Tanzania and abroad share knowledge and experience on relevant topics for the local innovators.
