Nigerian online hotel booking startup Nitestay has launched a rewards programme, allowing members to collect points that can be used to purchase items for free in its Nitestay Marketplace.
Launched in 2011, Nitestay allows travellers to search, compare and book hotels at discounted rates, and was the first of its kind at the time of launch.
Now, faced with competition from the likes of Hotels.ng and Jovago, the startup has rolled out is rewards programme, which it describes as the first of its kind for the industry in Nigeria.
Registered Nitestay members will be able to collect points on each hotel booking, while they will also be issued with a Nitestay loyalty card accepted at many of partner hotels.
Once accumulated, these points can be used to purchase items for free in the Nitestay Marketplace, while customers will also have the ability to achieve elite member status through their loyalty – thus gaining access to additional benefits.
“Competition has intensified since the company’s launch due to the entry of competitors like Jovago and Hotels.ng. However the online hotel booking industry is still growing and we believe there is still room for everyone to be successful in the industry,” Femi Okanla, Nitestay co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO), told Disrupt Africa.
Nitestay currently operates only in Nigeria, but Okanla said the company plans to strategically expand into West Africa and then Africa as a whole in the future.
“With the new and modern website design as well as our Nitestay rewards programme, we hope to attract and retain more customers and look forward to bringing investors onboard to make us achieve our goals faster,” he said.
