Kenyan startups will on February 23 have the chance to pitch for office space, mentorship and investment from Canada.

A team of 15 investors will be travelling to Kenya next month on a “Startup Safari”, and the organisers have teamed up with VC firm Nest and the iHub to host a pitch session for Nairobi startups.

“We are looking for exceptional founders to present their companies to attendees of the 2016 Startup Safari to Kenya – which will include around 15 VCs, founders and ecosystem partners from around the world,” the organisers said.

Startups have been invited to apply to pitch, with selected startups to be notified by February 1. At the end of the pitch event, the winning company will be offered an office space plus mentor and investor pairing in Canada, between Toronto and Kelowna. More prizes will be announced soon.

“We believe that this Startup Safari in Kenya will offer special context for developing unique personal insights for anyone engaged professionally with technology – the tour will relate the unique challenges East African entrepreneurs are facing whilst offering attendees high touch interactions and a fun atmosphere as we explore Nairobi’s scene plus take in the Masai Mara and Kenyan coast,” the organisers said.

“It’s a high-lux safari adventure for funders and founders to get introduced to the (East) African startup ecosystem; we’ll be touring Nairobi, getting pitched to by some of Kenya’s top tech entrepreneurs, fly to a luxury tented camp in the Masai Mara via twin prop planes and end in the Swahili Coast.”
