Zambian tech innovation hub BongoHive will next week launch its Discover programme, an intense three-week full-time bootcamp providing entrepreneurs with the basic skills they need to turn a business idea into a fully-fledged startup.
Applications for the first Discover programme closed at the beginning of the month, but BongoHive has already opened applications for a second edition, which will run in March.
The programme’s goal is to teach entrepreneurs how to refine and prototype their ideas while getting a set of business fundamentals essential to a new enterprise. Discover works on the principle of evidence-based entrepreneurship.
Participants will learn how to apply the fundamentals of UX to an idea, evolve an idea through interacting with users, create a compelling unique value proposition, generate financial forecasts and keep track of budget. They will also be shown how to create and test a prototype, and learn how to pitch to investors, customers and partners.
“Discover is open to anyone with any idea as long as the idea can be turned into a scalable business. There is no maximum or minimum number of founders per team however we prefer small teams over individuals as most successful startups have a few founders,” BongoHive said.
“This position is open to men and women alike and we are strongly encouraging women to apply. Women are 49.59 per cent of the world’s population so women should launch 49.59 per cent of the startups.”
This year will also see BongoHive roll out another programme, named Launch. Launch is a three-month programme that will strategically focus on startups that have launched and are looking to gain traction and scale.
