TechStem.org is hosting the first Africa meets Latam Tech Meetup in New York on January 28, aimed at providing an opportunity for the exchange of ideas between individuals interested in the two tech startup ecosystems.
The event is aimed at allowing attendees to exchange of ideas, experiences and business opportunities with regard to the Latin American and African tech ecosystems.
Confirmed panellists include AppAfrica Fund advisor Bahiyah Yasmeen, AfriTechSummit Ghana moderator Erikan Obotetukudo and Jake Bright, author of the book The Next Africa.
TechStem.org, an organisation founded by Adrian Avendano with the goal of promoting human and technological connectivity and collaboration, said the event was part of its new focus on tech ecosystems outside of Latin America and the United States (US.
“Africa and Latin America share a lot in common. For example Latin America is one of the fastest growing markets in the world in terms of digital take up and usage. The median age for the 409 million person population of South America is just 26.1 years old. Africa shares similar opportunities and challenges, regarding the growing tech ecosystem and growing tech entrepreneurship culture,” the company said.
