West African startups have been invited to apply for the inaugural West Africa Mobile Awards (WAMAS), targeting mobile and tech companies across the region.
The event is supported by Mobile West Africa (MWA), AppsAfrica.com, and the Mobile Ecosystem Forum (MEF), with winners to be announced at a gala in Lagos, Nigeria on April 21. Applications close on February 28.
“The provision of mobile connectivity, products, and services is having a fundamental impact on almost every aspect of society in West Africa. The WAMAS have been created in order to measure this progress. The awards strive to identify, recognise, and celebrate the individuals and companies that are the driving force of mobile innovation in the region,” the organisers said.
Aside from startups, the awards are also open to global brands and individuals shaping mobile content and commerce in West Africa. Applications are invited across 10 categories, with the WAMAS free to enter.
An expert judging panel that includes industry leaders, independent journalists, analysts, academics, and VCs will assess all entries.
