SA’s FitKey partners wellness programme Multiply to boost user base

South African fitness class finding app FitKey has partnered wellness and rewards programme Multiply to launch #Rewards4ActiveDayz, an initiative aimed at getting members of Multiply to be more active by using the FitKey app.

FitKey connects users to a range of geo-located fitness and exercise classes at different locations without the need for them to be locked into a contract.

Disrupt Africa reported last year the previously self-funded startup had received pre-seed investment from Cape Town-based angel investor Justin Stanford to allow it to scale its offering across the country, with FitKey expanding to Johannesburg shortly afterwards.

The startup has now partnered Multiply in a deal that will see Multiply members receive 25 per cent off their monthly FitKey membership when they sign up. For users to qualify for #Rewards4ActiveDayz, they need to participate in a FitKey class. The more “Active Dayz” accumulated in a month, the more HealthReturns they earn if they are a Momentum Health member.

“At Multiply, changing the way people feel about exercising is important to us. We believe that encouraging our members to make long term health choices is crucial, and rewarding them for their efforts is important.” said Saray Khumalo, head of partner management at MMI Holdings.

“Knowing that partaking in fitness classes can earn you HealthRewards that translate into cash is a fantastic incentive, and in our financial climate every cent counts.”
