Startups in the fintech space have been invited to attend an event in Johannesburg aimed at developing the financial technologies ecosystem in South Africa.
The event, organised by Fintech Africa and sponsored by WeChat Africa, takes place in Johannesburg tomorrow (June 23), with stakeholders discussing how fintech can drive financial inclusion on the continent.
It will look at some of the new players in the industry, and how their platforms have the potential to deliver mobile banking services to the disadvantaged. Startups will have the opportunity to connect and engage with fellow entrepreneurs as well as more established figures in the fintech space.
“The objectives for the event is to bring together some of the thought leaders and experts around the topic to discuss solutions on how how financial inclusion can be achieved on the continent, with the assistance of fintech,” the organisers said.
The panel discussion at the event will include Simon Dingle of Curve, Dominique Collet of RMI Holdings, Pat Wilson of Quona Capital, and Johan Meyer of Wallettec.
