E-commerce store for fishing launches in SA

0

Niche fishing and outdoor equipment e-commerce store Outdoor Adventures has launched in South Africa, in a bid to bring the fishing equipment market online.

The new e-commerce store aims to provide premium fishing and outdoor equipment and accessories, from the top local and global brands.

“It is our goal to become SA’s most trusted and affordable online supplier of first-class fishing and outdoor gear”, says Alex Band, chief operating officer (COO) of Outer Adventures.

According to Band, only 10 per cent of fishing equipment is purchased online in South Africa. The startup aims to change this by creating a go-to platform providing a strong product range, competitive prices, and quick delivery.

“We’ve estimated that currently about 10 per cent of fishing gear is purchased online in SA. That’s dismal when compared to the US or Australia, but that’s not surprising when you look at the available options locally,” says Band.

“E-commerce is gaining momentum and rightly so. It’s a highly convenient way to get the stuff you need. We’re going to help SA’s adventurers get what they need at a good price and in a manner that is simple and easy.”

The startup hopes to be more than a straightforward e-commerce store, but also wants to provide a platform for engagement and discussion between passionate anglers.

As such, the startup is inviting contributions from first-time fishermen to angling pro’s alike – anyone with “a tale to tell or epic outdoor shots to share”. Contributions can be sent here.
