Startup Weekend Mauritius set for this weekend

0
By Gabriella Mulligan on July 15, 2016 East Africa, Events

The Mauritius edition of the Startup Weekend event series is to take place this weekend (July 15-17), with teams given 54 hours to develop a business concept.

Hosted by Techstars, Startup Weekend is a grassroots movement of local entrepreneurs, who come together to learn the basics of founding and launching successful ventures within the timeframe of a weekend.

The 54-hour weekend event sees groups of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and others pitch ideas for new startup companies; following which teams are formed around those ideas.

Teams then work throughout the weekend to develop a working prototype. On Sunday evening, the teams present their businesses to panel of judges, and the top three teams are named.

Startup Weekend hosts events around the world, and has hosted events in 135 countries to date.

This weekend it is the turn of Mauritius; with the event to begin at 5.30pm on Friday, July 15 at Ebene CyberCity, and will run until Sunday evening.

“Whether you enter the weekend to start a company, find a co-founder, develop your skillsets, or simply have fun, Startup Weekend sets the stage for great things to happen. We look forward to seeing the different types of innovative ideas in this edition in Mauritius,” said the Startup Weekend organising team.

Tickets are available here, for free.
