The African Business Angels Network (ABAN) is to kick off a series of angel investor bootcamps and masterclasses in Nairobi on August 11.
ABAN first launched the bootcamp series last year, with the aim being to mobilise the early-stage investing community and grow a pan-African network of angel investors.
The first event takes place in Nairobi on August 11 in partnership with Viktoria Ventures, the LIONS Africa Partnership and VC4Africa, while over the next few months ABAN is looking to visit a range of cities across the continent, including Cairo, Cape Town, Dakar and Hargeisa.
“Audience for the events are new, aspiring investors interested in learning about early-stage investing as well as seasoned, experienced investors looking to share best practices and engage with peers,” ABAN said.
The first event in Nairobi will consist of a masterclass by Brigitte Baumann, president emeritus of the European Business Angel Network (EBAN), who will share her experience and journey as an angel investor.
Dr Jasper Grosskurth, managing director of Research Solutions Africa and a board member of VC4Africa, will share the findings of the Venture Finance in Africa 2016 report, highlighting the performance of early-stage, high growth ventures and the activity of early-stage investors in Africa. A local panel of experts will share and discuss their experiences of angel investing in Africa. Interested parties can register here.
