Africa focused US-based accelerator tiphub has opened applications for its Diaspora Demo Summit, aimed at promoting and bringing together African diaspora startups.
The Diaspora Demo Summit will take place in Washington DC on November 10-13, with applications are open for the next 30 days to startup founders in Africa and the African diaspora.
The theme of the event is “Rapid Growth for All”, with tiphub looking for startups aimed at increasing economic participation in society. Microsoft, Infodev, South African Airways and the US Chamber of Commerce are official partners of the event.
“One thing we realised is that Diaspora Demo isn’t just an event for startups, it’s truly a community experience, so we’ve planned this edition bigger and better. In its second edition, our pitch competition has expanded to become a larger series of events that celebrate African and African Diaspora innovation, entrepreneurship and success stories,” tiphub said.
The weekend summit will include African entrepreneurship workshops, receptions hosted at African embassies, co-working spaces and incubators, an African music concert, private investor dinners, and the marquee Startup Showcase, which showcases emerging companies and social enterprises focused on Africa and the African diaspora.
“The overall goal of Diaspora Demo Summit is to highlight great companies, connect investors to great opportunities, inspire and motivate other ecosystem participants to engage the entrepreneurship community in innovative and scalable ways,” tiphub said.
