Applications have opened for the Africa Rethink Awards, which will take place in Paris in October with the goal of supporting promising young African entrepreneurs.
Applications for the awards, which can be submitted online until August 15, are invited from African entrepreneurs under the age of 35 owning a business that is less than five years old.
The awards are being supported by the Mayor of Paris, with the competition aiming to identify, analyse, promote and provide financial support to young African entrepreneurs, awarding cash prizes to a minimum of 100 individuals.
There are four categories of cash prize award to be given out at the event, based on a jury’s decision, namely: the Grand Prize, the Women Entrepreneurship Prize, the Diaspora Prize, and the Jury Award Prize.
Startup applications will be evaluated by the jury based on, among other things, sustainability, scalability, societal impact, and originality. Shortlisted applicants will be offered a free return flight to Paris and accommodation during the competition.
