Entrepreneurship, innovation centre launches in Johannesburg

The LORA Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation has launched in Johannesburg, inviting applications to its business skills programme set to run in 2017.

The new centre is set to offer a five-month SETA [Services Sector Education and Training Authority] accredited New Venture Creation (NVC) certificate, designed to help budding entrepreneuers who want to lead high performing businesses.

The programme will focus on a range of business and soft skills, such as decision-making, risk-taking, critical thinking,  marketing, strategy, and driving innovation, among other areas.

The course will be delivered over a number of Saturday sessions in Johannesburg between January and June 2017, and will involve classes, case studies, as well as talks by guest speakers and thought leaders.

Founder of the LORA centre, Roche Mamabolo, said the centre aims to offer business and leadership courses that chage how entrepreneurs view and run their businesses.

“Learning how to ‘see’ is critical in seeing and seizing opportunities. We may look at the same thing, but see differently. LORA aspires to teach students how to see and maximize potential,” said Mamabolo.

The programme costs ZAR8,500 (US$631), and applications can be made here.

The centre has also launched a speaker series, which sees successful business leaders from a variety of industries invited to share their experiences and give advice to students and entrepreneurs on a range of business topics.

Speaker series’ events take place on Saturday afternoons, at the SAB World of Beer in Newtown, Johannesburg.  Tickets cost ZAR100 (US$7.4).
