Global Business Management competition launched in Kenya

Kenyan students and professionals have been invited to apply for the annual Global Management Challenge, which aims to give young professionals and students the chance to develop practical skills in managing and growing a business.

Interested parties can apply through the GMC Kenya website October 7, with the winning team will represent the country at the international finals in Doha, Qatar, in April 2017.

The Kenyan entry last year – a team from Kenyatta University – emerged eighth in total from 7,000 teams of university students, professionals and company managers who participated globally.

Greener Pastures, a human resources consultancy firm, is running the competition – which runs in 35 countries worldwide – in Kenya.

“We are excited to see the competition take root in Kenya amongst young students and professionals who are eager to expand their horizons and apply what they have learned in class or during on-the-job training,” said Ravi Shah, director at Greener Pastures.

“We saw the registration numbers double in the second edition of the competition, with the 41 teams who participated representing universities and workplaces from all across the country. Kenya is renowned for the accomplishments of our sports men and women; the team that represented Kenya in the GMC international finals held in Macau earlier this year showed the world that we are also ready to compete with the global best in the business arena.”

GMC participants grow a virtual business, develop their analytical skills and play active leadership roles. They are able to improve their employability and career growth, with the support of GMC partners such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Duma Works.

Registration is now open for anyone in their first year of tertiary study and upwards, as well as for people studying professional courses.
