Seedstars World has opened applications for the Kampala leg of its global startup competition, where one company will be selected to pitch for US$1 million in equity investment at the global final.

Applications are open here for the event, which will take place at Outbox on September 30.

Seedstars World has already chosen winners in Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria,Ghana,Ivory Coast and Mali.

The companies selected to pitch at the Seedstars Kampala event need to be less than two years old, have raised less than US$500,000 in funding, and have built a minimum viable product, ideally with existing traction.

“The startup ecosystem in Uganda has been growing exponentially and so has the quality of the startups themselves. We are looking forward to seeing what awaits us in this exciting place, and cannot wait for our event on the 30th,” said Selam Kebede, associate at Seedstars World.

Up to 10 of the best seed stage startups in Uganda will be invited to pitch for the opportunity to compete at the global final in Switzerland next year, where Uganda was previously represented by Intership UG.
