Seedstars World has opened applications for the Kenyan leg of the global startups competition, which will see one company selected to pitch at the global final in Switzerland for the chance to win US$1 million in equity investment.
Seedstars World has already chosen winners in Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali and Ethiopia.
The Nairobi leg of the competition – backed by CfC Stanbic Bank – will take place on October 7. Startups can apply here for the chance to take part.
Startups selected to pitch at the Seedstars Nairobi event need to be less than two years old, have raised less than US$500,000 in funding, and have built a minimum viable product, ideally with existing traction.
“Kenya has shown impressive development in the startup and tech entrepreneurship ecosystem, not just within the country but also for Africa. We are looking forward to seeing what the young innovators have got in stock of us and cannot wait to meet them all in person,” said Selam Kebede, associate for Africa at Seedstars World.
Up to 10 of the best seed-stage startups in Kenya will be invited to pitch for the opportunity to compete at the global final. Kenya was previously represented by Illuminum Greenhouse.
