SAP Africa and Rise Cape Town, the Barclays innovation initiative in Africa, have partnered to launch a fintech startup pitching competition.
The programme, launched by SAP Africa and Rise Cape Town as part of the SAP StartUp Focus initiative, aims to attract entrepreneurs from across the South African financial services sector.
Applications are now open for the events, which will take place on October 20-21, for early-stage fintech ventures focused on payment platforms, blockchain, remittances, insurance tech, alternative lending, big data, artificial intelligence or any other innovation that disrupts financial services.
A total of six startups will be invited to pitch their business ideas to a panel of experts and potential business connections, led by Nicole Anderson, a global expert in financial technology.
The selected companies will also be invited to a comprehensive training session focused on how to develop prototypes using the SAP HANA Cloud technology.
