The LakeStreet Tech Investor Roadshow is set to be held in Cape Town next month (November 28), aiming to provide investors from around Europe and the Gulf states with access to the best tech startups from South Africa.
Sponsored by London-based capital placement firm Victoria Lion Partners – which also operates under the LakeStreet name -, the event seeks to identify scalable and disruptive technology startups from South Africa, and connect investors with these companies with a view to creating mentoring and investment opportunities.
The Roadshow will be the culmination of a longer engagement with selected startups, as LakeStreet plans to work with the startups in the run-up to the event, providing advice and due diligence, with the Roadshow intended to be the last stage in the fundraising process.
LakeStreet says it has vetted Venture Capital firms, family offices, and high net worth individuals from the UK, Switzerland, other European countries, and the Gulf states, to ensure investor attendees are aligned with the investment-focus of the event.
The startups to showcase at the event have also been selected by LakeStreet. All the selected startups are post-revenue and have had at least one external fundraising event.
“We at LakeStreet serve as innovation collaborators, meaning we connect viable and attractive technology to our international tech investors. Clearly Africa has great talent to be discovered and is increasingly becoming attractive to international investors,” said Lydia Ofori, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Victoria Lion Partners and LakeStreet.
LakeStreet hopes to take the Roadshow to other African countries in the coming months.
