Global early-stage startups competition Seedstars World has announced the nine startups that will pitch at its event in Dakar on October 14, with the winner destined to represent Senegal at the global event in Switzerland.

Seedstars World has already picked winners in Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria,Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya, and will now hold its event in Dakar.

The winning startup will be given the opportunity to pitch at the global final in Switzerland next year for the chance to win up to US$1 million in equity investment. The local event will take place at Jokkolabs.

The Senegalese startups selected to pitch include shopkeeper management platform Weebi, mobile payments startup PayDunya, music platform JokkoText, and product information network Morinnove.

Financial inclusion startup Direct Solution, professional network Wutiko, online transfer tool Sharek, electricity consumption monitoring app Seni Apps, and maternal health application Karangue complete the list.

“Seedstars World is an amazing opportunity for the best entrepreneurs of emerging countries to be identified. The selected startups will benefit from access to a great network and community, media exposure and overall the opportunity to connect with leading investors,” said Claudia Makadristo, associate for Seedstars World.
