The second cohort of startups from around the world to join the Big Booster acceleration programme has been selected, with 16 African startups making the cut.
The international non-profit Big Booster programme targets startups in bio and health, informative tech and global impact, and looks to empower businesses to cross borders and go global.
The programme sees up to 100 international early-stage startups selected to take part in intensive three-day seminars, in Lyon, France, and in Boston, United States (US), where they work with top-level mentors and experts to test and improve their proposition value, strategy and pitch.
The second cohort of Big Booster has now been selected, with 92 startups from around the world set to join the first “Booster Camp” in Lyon between November 8 and 10.
16 African startups also made the cut – seven startups hailing from Morocco, four from Tunisia, two from South Africa, and one each from Kenya, Niger and Senegal.
“There is a greater proportion of international startups this year. It is fundamental to our ambition of creating synergies between local and international startups ecosystems,” says Didier Hoch, chairman of Big Booster.
At the Lyon camp, over 150 mentors, judges and experts will help startups improve their business proposal, through one-to-one mentoring sessions, and a number of high-level speaker presentations.
At the end of the three working days, the 92 entrepreneurs will go head-to-head in a pitching competition, where 20 startups will be chosen to continue to the Big Booster camp in Boston.
