Tigo Tanzania has opened applications for the annual Digital Changemakers’ competition, offering US$20,000 each to the top two social entrepreneurs using digital tools to improve communities and impact future generations.
For the fifth edition of the competition, which is co-hosted by non-profit Reach for Change, the focus is finding innovations in education, entrepreneurship and broadening digital inclusion.
Two winning ideas will receive a cash prize of up to US$20,000 each, and get access to the Reach for Change incubator, business training, and a global network of other social entrepreneurs.
“We are thrilled to be running the Tigo Digital Changemakers’ award with a new focus this year. Our team is very excited to support digital innovations that will improve education, digital inclusion and business entrepreneurship in Tanzania,” said Woinde Shisael, Tigo’s corporate responsibility manager.
To date, Tigo has supported eight social entrepreneurs through the Tigo Digital Changemakers’ initiative.
“They have made good use of funding, coaching, mentorship and together they have reached more than 10,000 children and youths,” Shisael said.
To apply, startups must fit into one of this year’s three categories; must have at least a prototype; and be scaleable, sustainable, impactful, and capable of instigating real change.
Applications are open here, until November 21.
