South African recruitment startup Britecap was named winner of the pitching challenge at the recent SAP Start-Up@RISE Africa event in Cape Town, winning a three-month membership of the Rise space in Woodstock and a MacBook Pro.
Disrupt Africa reported last month SAP Africa has partnered Rise Cape Town, the Barclays innovation initiative in Africa, to launch a fintech startup pitching competition as part of the SAP StartUp Focus.
Britecap, a platform that helps the low and medium skilled labour be more discoverable by potential employers with the aim of integrating financial products and services, was named the overall winner, beating off competition from the likes of online investment startup Beta Wealth, travel service FOMO Travel, AI startup Revel8, and agri-tech solution Zazu.
Britecap has developed verification and on-boarding features it hopes will make those in the low and medium skilled labour market more discoverable for new employment, having launched its MVP – an employer-employee connection platform – in January of this year.
Van der Merwe said Britecap has signed up its first three paying employer clients, who are using its automated on-boarding features, making them instantly labour compliant when on-boarding a new employee.
