The third edition of the Blockchain Africa Conference will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, in March 2017, bringing together fintech startups, banks and other stakeholders to discuss the opportunities provided by blockchain technology.
The first Blockchain Africa Conference took place in Cape Town in April 2015, before the event relocated to Johannesburg for this year’s edition. Early bird tickets are now on sale.
The Blockchain Africa Conference 2017 will bring together a range of local and international speakers to discuss use cases in payments, settlements, KYC, AML, the blockchain as a service and identity management.
Ian Merrington, a thought leader in the South African blockchain community and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Cape Innovation Technology Initiative (CiTi), will be the master of ceremonies for the event, which will take place on March 1-3.
“Now in its third year this conference has rapidly developed into the leading blockchain conference in Africa and the go-to event for full immersion in global blockchain trends and use cases. The quality of the speakers has been widely acknowledged as being one of the best events of its kind, globally. This conference is unique in its convergence of global trends with African use cases and opportunities,” Merrington said.
Nicole Anderson, CEO of the London-based FinTech Circle Innovate, has been confirmed as the first speaker at the conference, while a blockchain workshop will take place on the first day. It will give delegates an understanding of digital currencies such as bitcoin, the underlying blockchain technology, and why it is being referred to as the next Industrial Revolution.
