Ratings service Bua App was named winner of the Seedstars World event in Gaborone, Botswana over the weekend, with the late wildcard entry now heading to Switzerland to pitch for up to US$1 million in investment at the global final next year.
Seedstars World has already chosen African winners in Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria,Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Senegal, Zimbabwe and Algeria, and held its Botswana event yesterday.
Ten startups pitched at the event, including six pre-selected companies and an additional four wildcards chosen during the Udugu Entrepreneurship Week. One of these was Bua App, a private ratings tool, which was named the winner.
Bua App will now participate in the Seedstars Summit, which takes place in Switzerland in April of next year, a weeklong training programme and pitching event where startups have the possibility of winning up to the US$1 million in equity investment.
Coll24, a fast and collaborated health framework for quick response on emergencies and disease outbreak control, came second, while CITIapp, another wildcard and a one-stop-shop for travellers who wish to access all relevant apps in only one application, was third. The other startups invited to pitch were Stocklive Botswana, FarmConnectar, Buzzz, VGBots, Indie Studios Africa, Passrate Doctors, and MooMoo.
