The second annual AHUB entrepreneurship event kicks off today in Cape Town, aimed at bringing together startups and investors to share ideas and collaborate.

The AHUB, which is sponsored by Ericsson and co-located with the AfricaCom event at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), begins today and concludes on Thursday, November 17th.

It aims to enable entrepreneurs to share ideas, collaborate and connect with the most active and sophisticated VCs, funds and angel investors, and features a wide variety of keynote talks and panel discussions.

“The AHUB brings together hundreds of business ready entrepreneurs to understand the latest technologies to serve their needs in scaling up and monetising – from a budding app or web business into an internationally recognised brand,” the organisers said.

“This is the only event of scale in Africa presenting an opportunity to meet and connect with Africa’s future SMEs and the online businesses of tomorrow.”

Speakers include Herotel CEO Alan Knott-Craig Jr, She Leads Africa co-founder Afua Osei, DealDey CEO Kehinde Oriola, wiGroup CEO Bevan Ducasse, Cape Innovation and Technology Initiative (CEO) Ian Merrington and Sw7 co-founder Keith Jones.

A variety of investors from across the continent will be in attendance, including Peter Allerstorfer of Silvertree Capital, Gil Oved of The Creative Council, Eric Osiakwan of Chanzo Capital, Andrea Böhmert of Knife Capital, Wim van der Beek of Goodwell Investments, and Aaron Fu of Nest.

Investors are invited to participate in a one-to-one meeting service, designed to take the legwork out of the event and put them in touch with scalable startups in their sector of interest.
