ABAN taking investor masterclasses to Cairo, Lagos

The African Business Angel Network (ABAN) is to extend its Angel Investor Masterclass series to Cairo and Lagos next week, aimed at mobilising the early-stage investing community.

ABAN, which held its third annual African Angel Investor Summit in Lagos last week, first launched the masterclasses last year, and this year has held them in places as diverse as Kenya, Somaliland and Cameroon.

The ABAN Angel Investor Masterclasses are highly interactive training sessions focused on peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and the sharing of best practices in a bid to get more individuals and groups investing in early-stage African startups.

The Cairo masterclass will be held on Tuesday, December 6, and is organised in partnership with VC4Africa. The masterclass will be conducted by long-time investor and entrepreneur Balz Roth, with an introduction by local investor Khaled Ismail. The four-hour session will unpack the entire investment spectrum from deal origination, valuation, due diligence, negotiation, post-investment monitoring, and, finally, exits.

A masterclass in Lagos will follow on Saturday, December 10, organised in partnership with Rising Tide Africa, Lagos Angels Network and VC4Africa. European Business Angels Network (EBAN) president Candace Johnson and president emeritus Brigitte Baumann will be speaking, alongside ABAN president Tomi Davies and Rising Tide Africa lead Ndidi Nnoli-Edozien.

“We look forward to continue connecting with the different investor communities across the African continent and beyond; working together to create a roadmap that plots the future of early-stage investment in Africa,” ABAN said.
