Female-focused e-commerce startup Kasha has been named the winner of the Rwanda round of the Seedstars World competition, and will represent the country at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland to compete for up to US$1 million in equity investment.
The Kigali event was the last local event of this year’s Africa tour, with Seedstars World having already chosen winners in Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria,Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Algeria and Botswana.
Twelve startups pitched their ideas in front of the local jury panel, with Kasha picked as the winner. The startup sells and delivers women’s health products over a widely accessible mobile retail platform.
“I am incredibly excited to have won Seedstars Kigali. The entrepreneurs that have won across Africa are all driven to change the face of business and technology globally,” said Joanna Bichsel, co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Kasha.
The startup will now participate at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland in April next year, where it will have the chance to pitch in front of audience of 1,000 attendees with the possibility of winning up to the US$1 million equity investment.
Quick Ride came second, while MindSky grabbed the last spot in the top three.
