Applications are set to open for the third edition of the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP), which will see 1,000 entrepreneurs from across Africa selected to receive funding and mentorship.
The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) is behind TEEP, which was launched in December 2014, with a target of creating one million new jobs and US$10 billion in additional revenues in the process.
The foundation has a 10-year, US$100 million commitment to training, mentoring and funding 10,000 African entrepreneurs. TEEP announced the selection of 1,000 entrepreneurs for the second round of the programme in March, with Nigerians dominating the selection as 589 entrepreneurs from the country are set to join the programme.
The application portal for the third edition will be open from January 1 until March 1. Selection is on a rolling basis, so early application is encouraged.
“I believe the seeds we are planting through the programme will transform Africa. Two years on, it is clear that we have found a key to unlocking Africa’s potential for economic transformation,” said TEF founder Tony O. Elumelu.
“As our entrepreneurs grow their own businesses and realise their ambitions, so too does the vision. We are showing what the African private sector can achieve; how hard work and enterprise can catalyse real, sustainable development.”
