Applications have opened for the second edition of the Innovate Accelerator, which will provide Somali startups with training and mentorship while rewarding the best three with up to US$15,000 in investment.
Disrupt Africa reported in December three Somali startups shared US$15,000 in investment after coming out on top of the demo day that was the culmination of the inaugural Innovate Ventures accelerator programme.
The 12-week accelerator – for which applications are open until June 30 – is an initiative of Innovate Ventures in partnership with the Work in Progress! Alliance and VC4Africa.
Ten chosen startups will benefit from intensive training and mentoring on business and operational skills, access to leading telecoms and banks, the chance to pitch in front of local and international investors, and the possibility of equity funding.
The accelerator is looking for startup founders under the age of 35, running technology-oriented businesses that are located in the either Somalia or Somaliland.
