Four African startups have been selected to join the second cohort of fintech incubator DFS Lab’s Design Sprint bootcamp in Sri Lanka, with up to US$100,000 grant funding available to the top participants.
Using the Design Sprint methodology, the bootcamp sees concept or early stage startups put through an intensive five-day programme of structured ideation and prototyping. Participants get hands-on support and guidance from expert mentors.
“By creating quick prototypes for representative customers, you can get actual feedback and see if there’s a real potential for the solution you’ve created,” DFS Lab says.
Nine two-man teams were selected to join the second cohort of the bootcamp, which is being held currently in Sri Lanka. Four African startups made the cut.
The African startups selected are Ghana’s Inclusive, with its API that verifies financial identities across Africa; Kenyan peer-to-business microlending marketplace for Africa, Pezesha; Pula – an insurance intermediary for small-scale farmers in Africa; and Nigeria’s innovative group savings app Reach.
The best ideas will receive grant funding of up to US$100,000, and six months of additional support from the DFS Lab.
