South African Internet of Things startup IoT.nxt will open its first fully-fledged office in Europe in the Netherlands in July, as the company continues its global expansion following a major funding round.
The Pretoria-based IoT.nxt has developed a framework that moves business beyond islands of automation and towards a seamless horizontally and vertically integrated digital enterprise.
The company opened an associate office in London in January, and is now pushing ahead with further expansion having secured a further ZAR100 million (US$7.7 million) from funding partner Talent Holdings in February.
Dr Joe Bester, the IoT.nxt marketing director who will lead the Dutch office, said the company had participated in IoT conferences and expos in London where it was evident there was significant interest in Europe in its solutions.
“The office currently being set up in The Hague will allow us easy access to the European market,” he said. “The Netherlands has a strong technology focus and was the logical choice.”
Bester said Dutch legislation is very business-friendly, especially towards technology startups.
“The Netherlands was by far the best choice for us as a next step after our first successful international expansion with our London office,” he said.
The IoT.nxt platform allows for a top-down or bottom-up digital transformation approach and is an enabling technology for all of the large IoT platform and big data players. It has many commercial applications across many industry verticals.
“We have helped companies on their digitisation journey in around 11 different industry sectors. Our clients see the IoT.nxt platform as their first step in implementing a digitisation strategy that brings their businesses into the future of business and then keeps them there no matter what happens on the edge or in the big data layer – we are the agnostic bridge,” Bester said.
